Picture

Love the forest and all that lives in it.
Explore your local park, bush or forest and discover the magic.
Take your rubbish home with you.
Be careful not to damage the trees or plants.
Do not disturb fallen logs or rocks as they may be sheltering small animals or insects.
Respect all wildlife; keep a safe distance, so you don't scare them and they don't have to scare you!
Join a conservation or wildlife care group.
Plant trees around your home, school and community.
Use recycled paper and other environmentally friendly products.
Reduce, reuse recycle where ever possible.
Tell your friends and family about the importance of trees.
Hug trees, remember to thank them and the fairyfolk for our beautiful forests.

Activities for Forest Friends

Local Forest/Park Project:
See how many trees, plants animals, birds and insects you can find.
Photograph or draw them.
Record when and where you found them.
Draw a diagram and show how plants, insects, birds and animals are connected. (The Web of Life)
Are there any "man made" problems in your forest/park: what are they?
Can you think of any solutions?
How can you encourage others to share you love of the park/forest?

Creative Projects:
Often when people are trying to get their environmental message across, they bombard their audience with too many facts and statistics to sink in, or they scare them so much with messages of doom and gloom that the audience thinks there is nothing they can do to help.
Sometimes the best approach to tell your message is a creative one....through art, story, drama or dance performance.
The easiest way to educate people is to entertain them.
Pick a theme for your project, ie save the rainforest, protect endangered species, reduce, reuse, recyle, or something you feel passionate about.
Now choose which creative way you are going to present your message.
You may like to make this a group activity...have fun!
Present your creative project to your class, friends, family or community group.
